Background

I joined the founding team of Center to design the ideal experience for developers building the future of Web3. As the principal product designer, I spearheaded a comprehensive redesign of every aspect of the developer's workflow.

Developers building the next iteration of the web have a lot of competing priorities, but they can't afford to provide a lackluster experience to their users. Data from a variety of blockchains need to be served at lightning speeds with accuracy that users can depend on, or they will seek an alternative.

We focused on solving the highest friction experiences that a developer is likely to encounter when building new features into their products. Our key problem areas ranged from critical tasks like API key generation and management, API endpoint discovery, usage monitoring, and workflow optimization.

Where we landed …

After discovering that users were having difficulties finding their way around the interface, we redesigned the navigation and subpages of the dev dashboard.

The new left-side navigation provides users with a clear understanding of what project they're in, and the tabbed navigation keeps them on task within that project.

To future-proof our work, I build out a comprehensive design system of flexible components. This reduces a ton of lift for the front end team and helps keep the product consistent as new features are introduced to the dashboard.

Where we landed

The Center design journey began with an overhaul of the company's design system and culminated with the launch of a dramatically improved developer experience.

By redefining the brand as a no-frills utility for Web 3 developers, we were able to laser focus on the core building blocks of the dev workflow. From onboarding and endpoint discovery to API key management and usage monitoring, Center's product suite offers developers all of the freedom they require to build and scale their vision.

The utility phase of Web 3 begins with useful APIs.

Thanks to Center, we've saved over 2 months of engineering time. The overall quality and polish of our app have increased significantly after incorporating Center’s image solutions.
